National Safety Council (NSC)

Roadway Safety program - the National Safety Council addresses driver Safety from several different angles and works with government and non-government organizations as well as individuals. In addition to providing driver Safety training and education programs, the Council leads the road to zero coalition in partnership with the u.s. Dot, developed the driveithome program to educate parents with new teen drivers, manages the our driving concern program for employers in Texas, and oversees the National child passenger Safety board. The Council also launched the country's largest public education effort around advanced driver assistance systems called my car does what and leads the check to protect coalition to urge drivers to fix outstanding vehicle recalls.

Impairment program - the National Safety Council seeks to prevent all injuries and fatalities that occur off the job, in the workplace and on the roadway due to impairment. The Council provides business leaders with resources and toolkits to help them understand the cost of substance use in their workplace and help them implement a workplace program on opioids. In fy 2021, the Council updated the substance use cost calculator to include most recent bureau of labor and National drug use and health survey statistics, and the opioids at work employer tool kit. The Council defined impairment for the workplace, engaged in research trainings and impairment detection technologies to support reducing impairment in the workplace and educated audiences with several webinars on the various forms of impairment.

Workplace Safety program - the National Safety Council provides Safety training and consulting programs for employers to help them create a culture of continuous Safety excellence through leadership and employee engagement. The Council is a leader in preventative workplace first aid training. Its comprehensive courses have been designed using extensive research and educational testing shown to improve skill mastery and long-term retention. The Council offers a complete array of training courses from beginner to advanced, with delivery modalities including classroom, elearning and blended, to meet our customers ever changing needs.
