Federal grants: the agriculture conservation Experienced services (aces) program:the agriculture conservation Experienced services program, authorized by the farm bill, and implemented in usda natural resources conservation service (nrcs) offices throughout the country, is a legislative older worker program for those 55 and older. Aces is a grants-based program administrated through an umbrella agreement and certified by the department of labor. This helps address the issue of "brain-drain" as Experienced workers retire, and provides opportunities for newer, less Experienced civil servants to learn from more Experienced workers. The u.s. forest service aces program:new Solutions is partnering with the u.s. forest service to provide aces enrollees who are Experienced workers 55 years and older, to assist with technical services for conservation related programs and authorities carried out on National forest service (nfs) land. The u.s. forest service aces program was authorized by congress with the passage of the 2014 farm bill (pl 113-079). The Experienced services program (esp):in 2018, the department of the interior was authorized under the consolidated appropriations act, 2018: public law 115-141, section 115 to enter into cooperative agreements with nonprofit organizations to utilize the talents of older workers (ages 55+) to fill Workforce gaps, accomplish unexpected or non-routine projects, prevent skill attrition, and mentor newer employees. The work can be part- or full-time, short- or long-term, consistent or intermittent, project-focused or fulfilling a specific organizational function. The jobs can be of any nature - professional, technical, operational, administrative. The senior environmental employment program:the senior environmental employment or see program, funded through the environmental protection agency (epa), exists to match the skills of qualified, Experienced workers, 55 and older, with positions of support in epa offices across the country. See enrollees fill positions such as administrative assistants, chemical engineers, environmental biologists, community outreach specialists, security personnel, receptionists, geologists and many others.the senior community service employment program (scsep):the senior community service employment program (scsep) is a community service and work-based job training program for older americans. Authorized by the older americans act, the program provides training for low-income, unemployed seniors. New Solutions' scsep program is funded by a grant from the usdol-eta. This funding provides 90% of the support for scsep, with the new Solutions matching 10%. New Solutions operates scsep in Wyoming and northern California. New Solutions served an average of 187 participants during fy22.
Contracted services:national Experienced Workforce Solutions, inc. Received contracts from friends of the great smokey mountains(friends) and bureau of reclamation (usbr) to fill specific positions with government agencies. The positions support the mission of friends and bor and have very strict criteria.new Solutions was contracted by the bureau of reclamation(usbr) regarding the use of the Experienced services program to contract an expert manager to provide assistance and input on filling an environmentally sensitive position at the klamath basin in Oregon.
Other grants:new Solutions received a grant from aarp foundation to increase opportunities for Experienced workers.
