Program areas at NEC
Provided environmental education about eagles and the Upper Mississippi National Wildlife Refuge; offered online and outreach programs to people of all ages through Adventures in Eagle Territory; provided exhibitions and programs on eagles in art, history, and across cultures; and provided behinds scenes and habitat tours to over 80,000 individuals, schools, community groups, and organizations. With the exception of the months when the Center was required to close for the COVID-19 pandemic, the Center annually welcomes visitors from all 50 states and more than 120 countries at our Interpretive Center and Museum in Wabasha, Minnesota. In addition, we entertain and educate more than 40,000 social media followers; thousands of online and outreach participants; and in September of the current year, documented a media reach of more than 39,000,000. Through the Center's live eagle ambassadors, interactive exhibitions, public art and history displays and presentations, and outdoor excursions, we consistently engage the minds of children, students, and adults who are eager to learn lessons in nature, science, art, people, and the planet we all share. The Center places the eagle at the heart of everything we do. Eagles are one of America's most prominent environmental conservation success stories; serve as our country's inspirational national symbol; and exist as the spiritual connector to a higher power for many Indigenous cultures. For all these reasons, and many, many more we are committed to creating transformative experiences that live up to all that the eagle represents by inspiring people of all ages to nurture and protect our natural environment and appreciate the common values that unite our diverse cultures.
