Program areas at National Committee to Preserve Social Security & Medicare Foundation

The National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare Foundation completed the funded project from the Retirement Research Foundation that examines the social and economic impact of Social Security as well as an analysis of the impact of raising the Medicare eligibility age from 65 to 67. Based on our project findings we launched and maintain our interactive project website, SocialSecuritySpotlight.org. It provides easily accessible tools that highlight Social Securitys valuable economic stimulus impact in every state and community nationwide. It also contains basic demographic data on Social Security at multiple geographic levels including federal, state, congressional district and county. The launch was accompanied by a press release issued by the National Committee that was widely disseminated to the mainstream and social media. It was also disseminated to dozens of advocacy organizations, to members of Congress, and the results were presented at professional meetings. We completed our analysis of the impact of raising Medicares eligibility age from 65 to 67 and posted our study findings on the Spotlight website. Currently, the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare Foundation is assisting its supporting organization, the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare, in funding the "Delay and Gain" education project which first launched in December 2017. Beginning April 8, 2019, the project expanded its outreach in five target markets as part of an effort to encourage near-retirees to gain more money by delaying their claim for Social Security benefits. The markets are Baltimore MD, Davenport IA, Pittsburg PA, Louisville KY and Detroit MI. These markets were selected mainly due to their large and diverse employer bases and their strong radio rankings for 55+ demographic. We hope to expand this project based on the results we achieve in these areas.
