Spring and fall conferences - the Association hosts spring and fall conferences in Washington, dc. The spring and fall conferences provide members with education on the current issues, networking opportunities with other Federally connected Schools, and scheduled meetings for the sub-groups within nafis. The conferences provide information on topics such as visits with congressional delegations, federal relations outreach group and grassroots advocacy, basics of impact aid, and federal contribution rates. During the conferences, nafis presents various recognition awards.
Legislative awareness - nafis maintains a professional staff headquartered in Washington, d.c., just steps from the members of congress, who represent nafis' members. Nafis' capitol hill location allows staff to both monitor and influence National legislation that ultimately affects Impacted school districts.
Member services - membership in nafis carries benefits for school board members and school administrators, as well as teachers and parents. Members of nafis are provided with information for school staff and administrators about the impact aid program and its importance. Nafis, through the Federally Impacted Schools educational foundation (fisef), also assists members with the process of completing an application for the impact aid program. In addition, nafis assists its members in connecting with their representatives in congress to effectively communicate the importance of impact aid to the school districts.
