Program areas at Muslim Association of Puget Sound
Through our Muslim Community Resource Center (MCRC), we provided free legal and medical clinics, addressed homelessness and hunger in our community through a partnership with other faith-based organizations, housing for single women, emergency financial assistance, funereal services, refugee assistance, elder care services and family issue counseling. In 2023, MAPS MCRC through its portfolio of services touched 120,000+ lives. 8000+ families were provided food assistance. 7500+ hot meals were served at local shelters. Over $750K was disbursed through the emergency rental assistance program. MAPS-MCRC has 20 beds across 8 transitional housing units for single women. The MCRC medical clinic provided 450+ individuals with free medical and emotional wellness consultations. 100+ motel nights were provided for individuals and families who needed a safe place to stay for the short term.
Provided Islamic education to members of the community and their children. Conducted youth programs. MAPS Education Department offers a wide range of educational programs tailored to different age groups. For Children (Ages 3 and Under): We provide the Precious Hearts Mom & Tot program, a nurturing environment where moms and their young children can learn and socialize together. Precious Hearts Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten is a cooperative learning program designed to introduce children to essential early education skills and prepare them for a smooth transition to Kindergarten. For Kids (Ages 4 to 12): We offer a variety of programs, including Sunday School, Quran Classes, Islamic Studies, Youth Seminary, Understanding Quranic Arabic, and Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts. These programs aim to nurture Islamic values, character development, and leadership skills. For Teens and Adults: Our offerings include Arabic Language Courses, Quran Commentary Classes, Classes for New Reverts and Those Interested in Islam, Young Professional Quran Study, Quran Memorization Programs, and Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts for youth leadership training. Additionally, the PNW Seminary provides a structured program for adults to deepen their understanding of Islamic scholarship and leadership. In 2023, we proudly welcomed over 1,500 student registrations across all our education programs, reflecting the demand for quality Islamic education in our community.
Provided daily, weekly and monthly worship services and events to our community members, including special events such as the prayers and iftar programs during the month Ramadan (fasting). Other events that brought together Muslims and other faith-based communities and neighbors.
Other programs including MAPS Nature, Outdoors, and Wildlife (NOW), MAPS Interfaith & outreach, MAPS American Muslim Empowerment Network (AMEN) and MAPS Youth programs.
