Program areas at MCIP

Teen parent and child development centerto support teen parents as they work toward high school graduation and college admission, chec created the teen parent and child development center. Operated by board-certified early childhood educators and naeyc accredited, the center engages children in cognitively stimulating activities tailored to their developmental stages. Educators encourage infants to speak in their native languages to foster a link between home and school. Teen mothers and fathers receive comprehensive case management services, parenting classes, life-skills workshops, and tutoring services. This holistic support system enables young parents to excel academically while providing a nurturing environment for their children.
High impact tutoringmcip's high impact tutoring Program aims to bridge academic gaps and accelerate student learning. This Program pairs students with highly qualified tutors who provide personalized instruction in core subjects. Through frequent and intensive sessions, the Program focuses on mastering foundational skills, preparing for standardized tests, and enhancing overall academic performance. This approach has led to measurable improvements in student achievement and confidence, resulting in higher retention and graduation rates.
After school "beyond the bells" programthe "beyond the bells" Program helps each student reach their full potential through daily individualized and small group tutoring sessions, self-paced computer-based instruction, writing labs, and access to a homework center. Students receive instruction in subjects such as algebra, trigonometry, geometry, sat preparation, and ap courses. The Program also includes arts, music, dance, and theater activities that extend learning beyond the classroom. Teachers focus on developing students' interpersonal communication and leadership skills. The state-of-the-art gymnasium remains active late into the night, hosting a variety of sporting events and fostering a sense of community and school spirit.
Mentoring checthe mentoring chec Program connects students with dedicated mentors who provide guidance through academic and personal challenges. These mentors, often professionals from various fields, offer one-on-one support, Career advice, and life coaching. The Program builds resilience, fosters self-esteem, and cultivates leadership skills, ensuring students are well-prepared for post-secondary education and future careers.
Prevention, diversion, and interventionmcip's year-round prevention, diversion, and intervention Program addresses negative behavior by providing at-risk students with comprehensive support. This includes before, during, and after-school leadership and team-building strategies, outreach support, academic and Career mentoring, street law education, male responsibility instruction, conflict resolution education, and substance abuse prevention. The Program emphasizes advancement through positive reinforcement, helping students develop the skills and mindset needed to overcome challenges and succeed.
