Program areas at MRHS
Morningside Retirement and Health Services (mrhs) is a norc (naturally occurring Retirement community) program that enables older adults to remain living safely and comfortably in their own homes and community. Mrhs accomplishes this by providing a range of social Services and healthcare Services on site, as well as a range of Health promotion activities. Mrhs serves more than 300 residents each year with an on-site staff consisting of social workers, a nurse, a part-time home Health aide, a volunteer coordinator, an office manager and more than 100 volunteers, most of whom are older adults themselves. The professional staff provides an array of Health care and social work Services, which include case management, nursing care, medical and behavioral Health consultations, benefits counseling, home evaluations, home care and hospital discharge planning, and liaison with families, lawyers, physicians, and financial planners. In addition, educational, recreational, and social activities are offered - many of them planned and led by older adult volunteers. Programs include an array of exercise programs, writing and arts classes, book and current event discussion groups, films and videos, intergenerational programs, guest speakers, special events and special programming for people with memory challenges.
