Program areas at MCWC
Residential programs emergency shelter and transitional housing services are the cornerstone of this agency. In 2020, the emergency shelter provided up to 30 days of emergency housing and support services to 747 survivors and their children. In addition, reaching pines, the agency's transitional housing program, provided housing to 17 families.
Counseling and sexual assault programs. The sexual assault program provides 24 hour-a-day crisis response, support, and information and referral to survivors and their families. The counseling program utilizes a strengths-based approach to empower survivors to find the courage to reclaim a sense of control while maintaining their dignity. Survivors benefit from compassion and support as they heal and rebuild their lives. In 2020, counseling services were provided to 907 survivors and 614 survivors received advocacy services. The agency responded to 210 requests for emergency medical accompaniment following a sexual assault.
Education is vital to ending violence in our community. The agency's community outreach program begins the difficult conversation about family and sexual violence and provides tools and strategies to start the process of changing attitudes, beliefs and behaviors that contribute to violence. In 2020, community and school presentations were provided to 46,339 participants.
