The Foundation collects and distributes funds to assist a wide range of community needs that include education, health and human services and cultural groups serving residents of Montgomery County. As well as assisting donors to establish permanent endowment funds, the Foundation accepts donations of all sizes to address issues in the community. The Foundation is a community Foundation and has taken on the role of 'a catalyst for community solutions' by convening individuals, agencies and groups to strengthen communities to address those needs.the Foundation provides educational programs to staff and board members of non-profits to enhance their capacity. These programs address organizational issues, financial issues and other current topics critical to the operations of non-profit organizations.building strong communities and assisting those most in need is possible only through donations from those who want to make a difference.the Foundation supports the non-profit community through grants and as follows:we regularly assist donors in achieving their philanthropic goals by providing education about issues, non-profits, the best options for making a difference in the community.we provide monthly educational programs for non-profit staff and boards assisting them with information about issues they are facing. These programs are provided at no charge and topics include fundraising, accounting, cyber issues, and other important topics.we sponsor your way home, a continuing collaboration with Montgomery County, other foundations, non-profit housing agencies, and others to make homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring. This includes working to change the system that assists people who are homeless or about to be homeless. The new system will lead to successful solutions to the issues and with more permanent and quicker results.during the three-year covid pandemic, we provided the nonprofits with coaches and software to teach their staff how to increase their funding - this was a highly successful public private partnership.during the three-year covid pandemic, we worked with others to raise over $1,000,000 to assist nonprofits continuing to serve those most in need.we funded local research projects in collaboration with other funders to identify community needs. The results of those research projects often result in the undertaking of catalyst for community solutions projects like the human services resource directory. This project was developed and implemented by this Foundation to provide current information to those in need of services and is now linked with a call center and online access at www.211sepa.org.the Foundation received a grant from atlantic philanthropies for a 4-year period to provide civic engagement support to a program for adults 60+, giving them opportunities to volunteer with local nonprofits using their skills to make an impact.creative montco was a partnership between the Foundation, individuals, government, foundations, corporations, and others, to complete a research project to develop a 10-year plan for arts and culture for Montgomery County. The project is in implementation phase currently and involved approximately 100 volunteers, indicating tremendous community support.
