Program areas at Montgomery County Foundation

The Foundation collects and distributes funds to assist a wide range of community needs that include education, health and human services and cultural groups serving residents of Montgomery County. As well as assisting donors to establish permanent endowment funds, the Foundation accepts donations of all sizes to address issues in the community. The Foundation is a community Foundation and has taken on the role of 'a catalyst for community solutions' by convening individuals, agencies and groups to strengthen communities to address those needs.the Foundation provides educational programs to staff and board members of non-profits to enhance their capacity. These programs address organizational issues, financial issues and other current topics critical to the operations of non-profit organizations.the Foundation has funded local research projects in collaboration with other funders to identify community needs. The results of those research projects often result in the undertaking of catalyst for community solutions projects like the human services resource directory now called www.211sepa.org. This project now linked with a call center was developed and implemented by this Foundation to provide current information to those in need of services.the Foundation has also provided civic engagement opportunities to adults 60+, a program supported by a grant from atlantic philanthropies for a 4 year period providing volunteers opportunities with local nonprofits using their skills to make an impact.most recently, the Foundation, in partnership with individuals, government, foundations, corporations and others, has completed a research project to develop a 10 year plan for arts and culture for Montgomery County. The project is in implementation phase currently and has approximately 100 volunteers involved. The project, called creative montco, has tremendous community support.the Montgomery County Foundation, Inc. also in partnership with foundations, non-profit housing agencies, County government and others, is also working to change the system that assists people who are homeless or about to be homeless. The new system will lead to successful solutions to the issues and with more permanent and quicker results.the Foundation supports the non-profit community through grants and in other ways. The Foundation provides monthly educational programs for non-profit staff and boards assisting them with information about issues they are facing. These programs are provided at no charge. Topics include fundraising, accounting, cyber issues and other important topics.the Foundation regularly assists donors to achieve their philanthropic goals by providing education about issues, non-profits, the best options for making a difference in the community.building strong communities and assisting those most in need is possible only through donations from those who want to make a difference.
