Program areas at MMI

Credit counseling and debt Management - see schedule ocredit counseling and debt managementmoney Management International (mmi) provides personal financial counseling and education for those needing assistance with budgeting and Money Management. Consumers receive financial guidance from a certified credit counselor. During a session, the counselor will help the consumer assess their financial situation, develop a spending plan, set financial goals and create an action plan. Some consumers may be enrolled in a debt Management plan (dmp)for systematic repayment of certain debts. Teams of certified support counselors provide administration and support for mmi's dmp clients by providing on-going financial counseling and education from the start through completion. Corporate policy requires all support counselors receive in-depth training and are required to be independently certified prior to counseling a consumer. Mmi provided over 67,500 debt and budget counseling sessions, had over 60% of consumers complete their plans and our support counselors answered over 235,000 phone calls.
Bankruptcy counseling and education - see schedule obankruptcy counseling and educationmmi has been approved since 2005 to provide pre-filing bankruptcy counseling and issue counseling certificates in compliance with the bankruptcy code. Mmi is also approved to deliver pre-discharge bankruptcy education services along with the certificate of participation that allows the consumer to proceed with the bankruptcy discharge process. Mmi had 3,300 sessions for consumers prior to their filing for bankruptcy and over almost 2,000 debtors participated in pre-discharge education programs.
Housing counseling and education - see schedule ohousing counseling and educationmmi provides three housing counseling services aimed at saving homes and building communities. Foreclosure prevention counseling assists those that have fallen behind on their mortgage payments to keep their home and avoid the cost and credit rating damage associated with foreclosure. Reverse mortgage counseling educates seniors on the benefits, consequences, options and process of obtaining a home equity conversion mortgage. Mmi assists potential home buyers by educating them on the costs and responsibilities of home ownership. Funding is provided by the u.s. department of housing, urban development (hud), and fannie mae . Mmi provided almost 40,000 housing specific sessions.
