Mississippi Professional Educators (mpe) awarded the following grants and scholarships: - classroom grants: mpe awarded 42 classroom grants totaling nearly $40,000.- linda anglin teacher preparation scholarships: mpe awarded $500 scholarships to 13 student members for their teacher preparation studies.- non-certified scholarships: mpe awarded $1,000 scholarships to two non-certified mpe members to support their undergraduate studies at a college or university in Mississippi.- nbct scholarships: mpe awarded $475 scholarships to two members pursuing national board certification.- nbct maintenance of certification scholarships: mpe awarded $570 scholarships to nine members pursuing maintenance of their national board certification. - administrator school grant program: mpe awarded grants totaling nearly $40,500 to 41 administrators for projects that boost morale and celebrate the accomplishments of their schools teachers and staffs.- graduate scholarships: mpe awarded $1,000 scholarships to 12 members pursuing graduate studies at a college or university in Mississippi.- high school senior scholarships: mpe awarded $500 scholarships to 20 members of the class of 2023 who have at least one parent who is a member of mpe.carla king, a second-grade teacher at marietta elementary in the prentiss county school district, won this year's student loan payment contest. Mpe paid $3,000 of her student loans. Mpe hosted 15 regional trainings in 2022-23, and 240 Educators attended these trainings. Training topics included teacher leadership, engaging gifted students, the accountability model, and effective classroom management.mpe attorneys provided legal assistance and consultation to 17 members this year. Mpe's executive director provided Professional guidance over the phone to more than 200 members.mpe continued to sponsor Mississippi's national board certified teacher (nbct) network and its 85 members. The network provided nbct door plaques to our state's 152 new nbcts. Mpe provided the latest education and legislative news via 54 "mpe news" emails. In addition to continuing its presence on twitter and facebook, mpe also joined instagram.2023-2024 will be the 15th consecutive year mpe will not increase dues, as our mpe board of directors views our ability to not raise dues as another benefit for our members.
