Program areas at Mid-Michigan District Health Dept
Environmental Health program - conducts investigation of Health hazards, food service inspections, ground water quality control, land use evaluations, mobile home park inspections, sewage disposal inspections, public swimming inspections, campground inspections, etc.
Immunization program - provides flu vaccinations and immunizations against a variety of diseases.
Women, infants, and children progam (wic) - a supplemental nutrition program that serves to safeguard the Health of low-income pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to age 5 who are at nutritional risk by providing nutritious foods to supplement diets, information on healthy eating, and referrals to Health care.
Maternal infant Health program - provides non-medical professional services of public Health nurses, registered nurses, dieticians, and social workers, as well as childbirth education classes and transportation for medicaid eligible, high risk pregnant women. Family planning program - a comprehensive family planning service program which includes physical examination, specific laboratory services, pap tests, contraceptive consultation, and pregnancy testing with Health education as a major component. Children's special Health care services (cshcs) - provides diagnostic evaluation, family assessment, financial assessment, and case management for children up to the age of 21 with acute catastrophic or chronic illness. Hearing and vision screening - provided to pre-school and school grades. Communicable diseases program - provides testing, treatment, and data collection of various communicable diseases and std's. Aids counseling and testing - is pre/post anonymous counseling and testing. Medicaid outreach, enrollment, and coordination - a mich-care program which provides support services for medicaid eligible mothers, infants, and children. Community Health assessment - a program designed to plan and report regional Health issues. Breast and cervical cancer control program - provides physical examinations, including pap smears and mammograms to qualified women. Access to care - provides information and care coordination for uninsured clients. Bioterrorism - designed for emergency preparedness. Community pathways program - providing home care for individuals with multiple chronic medical/social issues to improve the individual's Health and decrease costs of nonemergency trips to emergency room. A variety of other miscellaneous wellness and Health related programs are provided at the local level.
