Michigan Supreme Court Historical Society collects, preserves, and displays documents, records, and memorabilia related to the Michigan Supreme Court. Its mission is to promote the study of the history of Michigan courts and increase public awareness of Michigan's legal heritage. The society produces educational materials available through its website or by request. It also commissions and maintains the portraits of past Michigan Supreme Court justices.

Program areas at Michigan Supreme Court Historical Society

The Society preserves the history of the Michigan courts and promotes the study of this information. Educational materials are produced and available to the public through the Society's website or by request. The Society commissions and maintains the portraits of Supreme Court justices and other artifacts on behalf of the Michigan Supreme Court, which retains ownership. There are currently 95 portraits (93 are on display and 2 are in storage awaiting presentation). The Society has 434 members on the mailing list and 362 contributing members for 2022. The number of individuals benefited by these activities cannot be estimated.
