Program areas at Michigan Council for Exceptional Children
During the 2022-23 fiscal year, the organization was able to continue supporting many of our initiatives as well as continue with the mittin project. the organization's accomplishments were: 1. Summer camps scholarship were offered to any selected camp operating during the summer of 2023, the organization still was able to support 39 student scholarships to attend a summer camp. 2. the organization became a vendor on the second grant and continued this partnership today in phase iv. Our goal is to have a library of modules for the field that address a variety of life skills. We currently have 11 one touch modules that focus on community and home skills. Development of future modules is current in production. 3.the organization held 12 professional development opportunities to the field. These modules were made available free to all educators in Michigan to supplement classroom/community instruction on life-skills. the organization were able to continue to build and enhance the 10 modules, trainings for educators using the modules, conduct two professional learning community groups, and enter into a research component with Michigan state university. 4.the organization held several professional development opportunities to the field. A.the organization held our 83rd annual Michigan cec conference, b.division of early childhood held their annual conference, c.the organization offered 5 virtual webinars on a variety of topics d.several of the organization's board of directors participated in the cec legislative summit and summer leadership and met with our state and national legislators e.the organization hosted the 8th annual math conference with our partners mctm and alt-shift f.the organization was a sponsor for the upper peninsula annual special education conference g.the organization conducted 12 trainings on the vr life skill modules throughout 2022-23. 4.the organization awarded 6 post-secondary scholarships 5.the organization continues to provide monthly updates, announcements and opportunities to our members via newsletters, email blasts and social media posts.
