Program areas at Metropolitan Wilmington Urban League

The mwul education and youth initiatives includes the following programs. 1)achievement matters works to ensure that all children are well educated and prepared for economic self-reliance in the 21st century by eliminating the achievement gap between minorities and increasing the graduation rate among african-americans and hispanics. 2)the james h. gilliam sr. fellowship brings leaders with diverse backgrounds together to work collaboratively in communities, while building their capacity as policy makers, advocates and community organizers. During this 10-month immersive fellowship, fellows gain.
The building people power campaign promotes research, writing and editing by a team of faculty scholars, community leaders and practitioners to shed light on the current conditions in Delaware's communities of color in the areas of housing, education, health, criminal justice and employment and provide data driven recommendations for our policy makers and elected officials with the good of eradicating racial and ethnic disparities through collective advocacy and action.
Mwul partners with local community stakeholders to assist with the implementation of programs that provide emergency housing assistance to renters experiencing financial hardship and first time homeownership workshops and counseling.
