Program areas at Methodist Federation for Social Action
Education and Outreach - Working primarily through the ministries of the United Methodist Church, MFSA supports and augments peace and justice ministries at the local, conference, and national levels. As an independent organization, we call our Church to expand its understanding of the radical call of the gospel to be the inclusive, justice-seeking, risk-taking body of Christ.
General and Jurisdictional Conference - Every 4 years the United Methodist Church holds its General and Jurisdictional Conferences, A time for delegates to make decisions for the world-wide denomination and then to elect Bishops to govern regions of the United States. MFSA has a presence at both General and Jurisdictional Conferences to advocate and hold delegates accountable to progressive theological statements.
Coalition Building - MFSA works in and through the United Methodist Church to promote and protect people's rights. For example, MFSA is a member of the LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR COALITION made up of thirteen United Methodist partner organizations dedicated to work together around the intersections of common justice issues and shared values.
Other Programs - Queer Clergy Support where MFSA is a fiscal agent for the United Methodist Queer Clergy Organaization
