Program areas at Mercy's Gate
In 2023, Mercy's Gate provided food pantry visits to 4,571 households representing 13,983 people. This service is valued at $510k. Additionally, more than 2,426 hot meals were served to our neighbors while they visited Mercy's Gate, seeking emergency assistance. Rental/ mortgage assistance of $215k was provided to 449 households helping them avoid eviction and homelessness. Through partnerships with the Colorado springs uiltites' project cope and energy outreach Colorado', we provided assistance to those facing disconnection of their utilities. These programs helped 411 households (1205 individuals), maintain heat, light, amd cooking capabilities with a combined value of $239,300. Additionally, Mercy's Gate provided direct utilities assistance for 11 households totalling $2,400.other assistance included a medical program which provided 483 households access to medical care, medications, vision exams and eyeglasses valued at $18,960, preparation of 1,148 tax returns for low-income households through the vita program with an estimated value of $516,600. Clothing vouchers for 799 households, representing 2412 people, with an estimated value of $28,089; holiday meal kits for 686 families ($90,700); transportation assistance for 1268 households ($28,879); and other assistance such as birthday gifts, emotional care and support, and direct staff support to programs and people in need. Volunteers, whose time did not qualify for recording in the organization's gaap financial statements, donated over 11,793 hours of time valued at more than $375k. The organization's value of donated professional services and donated rent are included in its financial statements but are ineligible to be included on the form 990.
