Program areas at Mercy House Ministries
Mercy House is a non-profit ministry serving single adult women who are pregnant, homeless, and under duress. House directors and staff care for residents, and each woman is invited to stay for up to one year after birth. The average stay at Mercy House can be six months to one year in most circumstances. Our goal for each resident is graduation from our program with a healthy baby, personal healing, restoration, feeling equipped to parent, or empowered and supported to place their baby for adoption. During their stay with us, we prioritize emotional healing from trauma, learning life skills, parenting education, and acquisition of a higher level of education than previously achieved. This ranges from working for a general equivalency diploma, acquiring education for a technical trade or online attendance of college classes. We focus heavily on emotional and spiritual restoration and resolution. These goals are achieved through the teamwork of our staff, various volunteers and professional skilled workers who offer their services. Twelve women were served on a long-term basis this year in our residential home. These services include midwifery and medical obstetrics care, childbirth education and dental and chiropractic care. We also provide professional services and classes to include Celebrate Recovery, private counseling, nutritional training, emotional and spiritual healing and recovery and our parent education course, Brightcourse. We assisted each resident in obtaining WIC, Medicaid, and exploring educational advancement. In some cases, Mercy House funded their educational requirements through grant funds or personal scholarships. Additionally, we provided 193 women with additional educational and informational resources that moms and moms-to-be may find useful.
