Program areas at Merakey Chester County
Merakey Chester County provides a broad array of services through its intellectual and developmental disabilities division. Its adult autism program confronted the pandemic head-on by engaging its participants in activities such as making masks and expanding outdoor activities. The life sharing and residential programs spent fy 2022 focused on ensuring the safety and health of their residents.the Chester County program supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in various day and residential settings to include home and community habilitation, group homes, life sharing, and day programs. Home and community habilitation services program of Chester County provides support to adults with intellectual developmental disabilities (i/dd), who reside in their homes, or with their families. The program currently supports 38 families. The focus of the program is to not only support the person within the family structure, but to also improve the family dynamics. In supporting the family dynamics successfully, the person will develop their skills towards independence to reduce the risk of the person needing to be placed in a community living arrangement (cla), a residential support service.merakey Chester County supports 26 adults diagnosed with intellectual developmental disabilities, (i/dd), and who reside in 11 homes within the residential services program. The service offers several levels of care, and the goal of the program is to support the person to become as independent as possible. Chester County residential services emphasizes the person's established goals (outcomes), and, through an individualized approach of services, the person will achieve their hopes and dreams.merakey Chester County supports 16 families and 17 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (i/dd) to share their lives together. Merakey recognizes that families are the foundation to provide supportive, permanent relationships with the best opportunity for a more enriched life. The family provides support to the person to access the community, receive medical care, and provide the day to day support to assist the person to meet his or her goals (outcomes).merakey Chester County supports 22 adults in our community participation supports program. We support 22 individuals with a diagnosis of i/dd. We recently changed our focus from a traditional adult day facility (indoor activities) to assisting the person to become a meaningful member of their community. This new endeavor will assist the person to develop meaningful relationships, with non-paid members of their community, and to provide support towards employment or volunteer services.merakey Chester County continues to move people to the less restrictive living arrangement and has opened a new life sharing home, with plans to add an additional life sharing home.
