Meals on Wheels of Sheboygan County

Meals on Wheels of Sheboygan County, Inc., has one program, the delivery of nutritious, freshly prepared, homemade Meals by caring individuals who provide a smile along with a quick safety check. During 2023, the organization tried a new donation software called harness. The software allowed for a round up program for some users, which was a nice addition, however, there were not enough users, and the program didn't offer enough benefits for to warrant using it again in 2024. Instead, we are trying a different program. A new fundraiser, dusk to glow, was held in 2023. This was a nighttime golf fundraiser which resulted in about 4,500 in income. It had lower participation than hoped, but did attract a few different donors. In 2023 one of the organization's vans was lost in an accident. No injuries resulted, but the insurance company decided to total the van, and it has not yet been replaced. Piping was added to the organization's backyard and at wildwood gardens to create an irrigation system; a grant received in 2024 will reimburse for most of that expense. Additional tubing will be installed in 2024, but that cost will be minimal. As the organization nears 12 years at its facility, equipment failures are expected. A water heater was purchased in 2023 as a backup in case the existing goes out. Some kitchen equipment was also repaired during the year. A new database build is also in progress; a deposit toward that project was made in 2023, and the remainder will be paid in 2024. The organization is seeking a grant to help with that expense. During the year, a few staff members were added, and the organization saw an increase in the number of meal recipients served. The total number of unique individuals served increased from 788 to 853. Meals on Wheels of Sheboygan County, Inc. also continues to provide food for the aging & disability resource center's congregate meal program. In total 98,104 Meals were prepared and delivered in 2023.
