Program areas at MCPAWS Regional Animal Shelter
Mcpaws is the only nonprofit organization offering animal welfare services in the entire west central mountain region of Idaho. The Mcpaws regional animal shelter provides progressive sheltering for animals and pet caretakers in need, including: receiving stray animals, reuniting lost animals with their families, adoption services, and low-cost spay/neuter for pets. We finished 2022 with a live release rate of 92%. Total animal intakes were 591 - 366 cats and 225 dogs. 451 dogs and cats were adopted into loving homes - all animals are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped prior to adoption. An additional 254 dogs and cats were spayed or neutered as part of our community spay/neuter program.
Mcpaws veterinary hospital is a full-service veterinary practice serving the local community. This innovative model not only generates operating funds for the shelter, but also provides accessible and consistent veterinary care for the shelter- greatly improving the quality of care we are able to provide to shelter animals. Gracie's fund, a program of the Mcpaws vet hospital, provides subsidized veterinary care for pets who might not otherwise be able to access that care, due to financial hardship.
Mcpaws thrift store receives and resells gently used household items to generate funds for shelter operations while also operating a successful cat adoption program, on-site at the store.
