Grants to organizationssixteen nonprofits were awarded $183,500 to improve access to healthcare; to address social determinants of health; to provide quality health care services for the uninsured and underinsured; and to support behavioral health programs. In addition, the Foundation recovered $4150 of unspent funds from a prior year grantee, bringing the total grant expense for the fiscal year to $179,350.

Grants to Medical students and resident physicianssix Medical students from Massachusetts Medical schools, and four resident physicians from Massachusetts facilities, received grants to help offset travel and lodging expenses for study in another country as they train to beome culturally compentent physicians who are prepared to serve both local and international communities with humility and respect.in addition, 2 grantees who were awarded grants in prior years had their grants paid and expensed during this fiscal year.
