Ready at five, a board-designated program of the Maryland Business Roundtable for Education since 2002, improves the practice and quality of early childhood Education in Maryland so that every child in Maryland should have the foundational skills needed for success in school, career and life. Ready at five is committed to improving the practive and quality of early childhood Education for our youngest learners through delivering high-quality Education for our youngest learners through delivering high-quality professional learning; providing effective family engagement activities; and educating and informing policy-makers and other stakeholders on the importance of high-quality early learning.symposia, gaining critical information and new knowledge. In addition, 650 parents and their children built skills through learning parties and readyrosie, an online family engagement tool. Over 125 schools and programs used ready at five's math and stem institutes and other professional learning opportunities. Readiness matters publications highlighted the status of kindergarten readiness in Maryland. All Maryland's 24 jurisdictions were given resources and supports to improve outcomes for children.
Achievement counts, launched in 1999, motivates high school students, particularly low-income and minority students, to achieve at higher levels and prepare themselves to succeed in college, the workplace, and in life. Through components of achievement counts - Maryland scholars, speakers bureau,and bewhatiwanttobe.com. We are reaching tens of thousands of students and educators multiple times throughout middle and high school to help inform their decisions and motivate them to excel in school and in life. By encouraging rigor, demonstrating relevance, building relationships, and providing incentives, achievement counts creates an environment where students understand and appreciate the value of a good Education and are willing to make the investment in their own future. Students have participated in and benefited from this program.
