Program areas at MVH

Maine Veterans' Homes Bangor operates 150 beds, providing skilled nursing, physical/occupational/speech therapy and rehabilitation, long-term care, memory care, and assisted living services. During fiscal year 2020, we provided 50,147 days of care to 346 residents. Efforts to protect our residents from the coronavirus were all consuming in the latter part of the fiscal year. These efforts were effective as Bangor avoided any residents or staff testing positive for the virus.
Maine Veterans' Homes Augusta operates 150 beds, providing skilled nursing, physical/occupational/speech therapy and rehabilitation, long-term care, memory care, and assisted living services. During FY20, we provided 48,708 days of care to 261 residents. In Fy19, MVH Augusta achieved Silver Level Award for Achievement in Quality - a distinction held by less than four percent of facilities nationwide! Efforts to protect our residents from the coronavirus were all consuming in the latter part of the fiscal year. These efforts were effective as Augusta avoided any residents or staff testing positive for the virus.
Maine Veterans' Homes Scarborough operates 150 beds, providing skilled nursing, physical/occupational/speech therapy and rehabilitation, long-term care, memory care, and assisted living services. During FY20, we provided 49,823 days of care to 292 residents. In October 2016, MVH Scarborough received the American Health Care Association's Gold Level Award for Excellence in Quality - one of only three in the nation for the year and one of only 31 since the program's inception! Efforts to protect our residents from the coronavirus were all consuming in the latter part of the fiscal year. Scarborough experienced an outbreak of coronavirus in April. Through the efforts of staff at Scarborough, the outbreak was limited to one unit.
We operate three additional facilities in Maine, one in South Paris (90 beds), Caribou (70 beds) and Machias (30 beds). During FY20, we provided a combined total of 64,812 days of care to 258 residents. in FY19, each facility achieved at least the Silver Level Award for Achievement in Quality, while Machias has achieved Gold Level status. MVH Pharmacies provides medication and consulting services to all six MVH facilities and external nursing homes.
