Advocacy at the State House: In 2018, we worked with state lawmakers to pass the clean water bond which was approved on last November's ballot, made modest progress on tackling food waste, and the legislature agreed to lower the cap for greenhouse gas emissions, aligning with the eight other Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative states. Holding Maine's elected officials accountable: Since 1986, MCV's annual Environmental Scorecard has provided Maine people with factual information about the most important environmental legislation considered in Maine's State House. Our Scorecard has become an essential educational tool to determine the environmental record of all members of the Maine State Legislature. We score the votes on the most important issues of the year, including energy, climate change, clean water, public health, and land conservation.
