Lutheran Hispanic Missionary Institute

To prepare workers to multipy healthy Hispanic ministries there were about 130 students, 40 of whom audited classes and didn't take them for credit. This includes 85 students who participated in one-week intensive courses and 50 who took part in 15 regular courses (a few students participated in both types of courses). The classes are designed to prepare ministry leaders.

To provide training in spanish and ideas for cross-cultural ministry. This fiscal year we planned and held our annual conversations in spanish intensive language training. This week-long intensive course offers spanish language training as well as ideas for cross- cultural ministry among hispanics. We had 11 students. Income and expenses were evenly split with yselta Lutheran mission, our partner for this endeavor.

The executive director preached 60 times during the year at Hispanic congregations or at churches which were interested in Hispanic ministry. He also made 4 additional visits to congregations or groups desiring help for beginning Hispanic ministry. The purpose of these visits and preaching was to support and encourage churches in their Hispanic work, to seek new students and encourage current ones, and to encourage anglo congreations in their support of Hispanic mission efforts.
