Preparation, publication, and dissemination of an annual Lown Institute hospitals index. The Lown Institute hospitals index is the first ranking of u.s. Hospitals to include an assessment of hospital social responsibility. The index is based on hospital performance across three primary metrics: outcomes, value, and equity. Index ranks 3700+ general acute care and critical access hospitals in the u.s. Using medicare inpatient, outpatient, and carrier claims data from the cms virtual research data center (vrdc) and a variety of other sources.
