Program areas at Louisiana Managed Medicaid Association
Improvement in business conditions: the Association's members provide Managed care services to over 1.5 million Medicaid recipients in the state of Louisiana. The Association promotes mutual regulatory interests, which include but are not limited to, increasing healthcare options for recipients, improving the relevant industrial climate, identifying additional forms of healthcare, and reducing the cost of healthcare. There are five entities contracted with the Louisiana department of health to provide Medicaid Managed care services, and all five are members of the Association. The Association's activities are for the collective benefits of its members as participants in the Medicaid Managed care industry; the improvement of the business conditions of the industry; and the identification of better, additional, or lower-cost service offerings for consumers.promotion of common interest of its members: the Association provides a forum for its members to develop common policies and procedures to improve efficiencies of operation, provide better healthcare to recipients, create a more favorable regulatory climate, and reduce the cost of healthcare. The Association identifies and addresses problems associated with Managed care industry in general and specifically with the Medicaid Managed care industry in the state of Louisiana. The Association formulates streamed procedures for dealing with the Louisiana department of health, identifies common and systemic issues requiring uniform or standardized solutions, and reviews and provides industry comments on regulations affecting Medicaid Managed care organizations. The goal of these activities is to improve the industry climate and the public perception of the industry to increase the quality and variety of healthcare options to make the provision of Managed care services more efficient and to provide more transparency and clarity to affected parties. Since its founding, the Association has held over 25 meetings of its members and plans to hold regularly scheduled monthly meetings and special meetings as necessary.continued strategies to achieve legislative and regulatory objectives: the Association identifies, monitors, and lobbies issues germane to the industry to ensure a coordinated strategy on behalf of its members to achieve legislative, regulatory, and/or political objectives. The Association, when appropriate, acts as a liaison with the Louisiana department of health and with those organizations and associations that participate in the Medicaid Managed care business. The Association engages in legislative and executive branch lobbying activities to support or opposed legislation or administrative actions that are relevant to Medicaid Managed care organizations. The Association has not and does not plan to intervene in any campaign on behalf of or in opposition to any political candidate.
