Program areas at Los Cenzontles Mexican Arts Center
The AcademyLos Cenzontles enriched the lives of more than 350 students with 126 traditional Mexican music, dance and artist classes through our four 10-week sessions. Approximately 80% of our students are returning students and approximately 60% took more than one class.Los Cenzontles offers workshops for both our continuing students and visiting community members interested in deepening their roots education.The Los Cenzontles Academy invites students of all ages to learn music, dance, arts and crafts from true maestros of authentic Mexican genres and to play an essential role in these living traditions by performing for friends, parents and community.Classes at Los Cenzontles provide a rich cultural [continued on Schedule O]
Supporting Roots CampaignDuring 2016-2017 Los Cenzontles continued working on the expansion and renovation of its center and to enhance its renowned cultural arts programming. With the increase in student capacity, Los Cenzontles has developed new community programming to make the best use of the new space.We continue to upgrade our performance and production equipment so as to best develop our programming.
Production and PerformanceLos Cenzontles has released 17 new music videos and 60 videos developed from archived materials during the past fiscal year. We also released two full-length videos that were developed to highlight rare cultural exchanges, Conexiones de Cuba and Convivencia de Grupos de Arpa Grande.We also developed and released a rock video, Every Kinda People, and a student video, La Manta.Our YouTube Channel now has over 5 million views and over 2,150 subscribers.
