Liss Fain Dance

Research the impact of dance on the life of people of the San Francisco area and educate the public about the results through classes, workshops, performances, public assistance and publications.In FY 16, Liss Fain Dance co-presented four large-scale evening length performance installation works; these included two premieres. The two premieres involved the design and construction of sets, costumes, and sound scores as well as intensive rehearsal time. In October 2015, as a co-presentation with ODC Theater, Liss Fain Dance premiered Your Story Was This. In January 2016, as a co-presentation with 3LD Art & Technology Center, Liss Fain Dance presented The Imperfect is Our Paradise in NYC. In April 2016, The Mill Valley Library co-presented Liss Fain Dance in a free performance of Your Story Was This. In May 2016, as a co-presentation with Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Liss Fain Dance premiered Tacit Consent. In addition to the performances, Tacit Consent was open during the day as a gallery exhibit as part of Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Gallery, and Liss Fain Dance presented a free public lecture demonstration called How it Worksfrom Concept to Performance. Liss Fain Dance taught two, week-long intensive choreography workshops for pre-professional dancers, in August 2015 and May 2016.Liss Fain Dance teaches outreach workshops on the creation and integration of movement and text to students at 826 Valencia, a San Francisco organization that supports literacy and arts in young people. This outreach is unpaid, although the company pays the dancers for their time.
