LifeCare Alliance, Central Ohio's premier Meals-on-Wheels provider for thirty years, continues to serve older adults and the medically challenged residents of Franklin, Madison, and Marion counties 365 days a year. In addition to Meals-on-Wheels, LifeCare Alliance provides nursing services, nurse practitioner, dietitians, wellness centers, community senior centers, dining centers, homemakers and home health aides. LifeCare Alliance leads our community in identifying and delivering health and nutrition services to meet the community's changing needs.

Program areas at LifeCare Alliance

NUTRITION SERVICES: Meals-on-Wheels provides nourishing food and a daily visit to homebound, older adults and individuals living with a medical challenge and/or disability, 365 days a year. We deliver 7,000 meals a day throughout Franklin, Madison, Marion, Champaign, and Logan Counties. Meal options include hot, cold, frozen, specialty diet, kosher, vegetarian, pureed and mechanical. In fact, the cost of one day in a hospital equals the cost of ONE YEAR of Meals-on-Wheels. The cost of one month of care in a nursing home equals providing Meals-on-Wheels for seven years. Volunteers are the heart of Meals on Wheels. In 2022, 7,800 volunteers donated 161,961 hours and nearly 419,812 miles. Carrie's Café, our premiere Senior Dining Center, has been recognized as a national model in congregate dining, providing socialization, enriching programming, and nutritious meals. We operate over 40 community dining centers throughout Central Ohio, including culturally diverse meals at 3 Asian and Somali restaurants. Transportation is available to most locations. Our Groceries-to-Go food pantry provides groceries, personal hygiene items, and household cleaning supplies to clients of the Columbus Cancer Clinic living with cancer. In 2022, the clinic served 11,879 clients and 4,345 households. Project OpenHand-Columbus also provides home-delivered, nutritionally enriched meals, assessments, counseling, and congregate meals to men, women, and children living with active HIV/AIDS. In 2022, 14,541 meals were served to 52 clients. Senior Farmers' Market is a USDA-funded program that provides coupons to older adults (60+). Recipients are able to purchase fresh, unprepared, locally grown fruits, vegetables, herbs, and honey from partnering markets and roadside stands. LifeCare Alliance administers the program in partnership with the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging in Franklin, Fairfield, Fayette, Licking, Madison, Pickaway, and Union Counties.
SOCIAL ENTERPRISE: L.A. Catering - Great catering for a Great Cause. L.A. Catering provides full-service buffets, corporate gatherings, picnics, weddings and receptions with priceless memories. This means when you book catering through L.A. Catering, you are not only receiving first-class service with a personal touch, but you are also assisting with the independence of older adults in our community! Our facility offers adjustable room space, free parking, and complete staging and audio/visual capabilities. The Meals-for-Kids program delivers well-balanced, nutritious meals to afterschool programs, daycare centers, and charter schools, throughout central Ohio. L.A. Wellness Works, LifeCare Alliance's corporate wellness program is designed to meet the wellness needs of employees through health, nutrition, and education services. L.A. Wellness Works helps companies to achieve wellness goals and improve the bottom line, using proven methods to encourage wellness behaviors. Whether you are looking to host a registered nurse or registered dietitian on-site, or offer lunch-and-learn sessions for your team, we can help. LifeCare Alliance provides international travelers with the vaccines they need at competitive pricing. IMPACT Safety provides individuals with tools to increase their confidence, awareness, and ability in making safe choices. This program teaches interpersonal safety skills to a wide range of populations, including women, youths, seniors, individuals with a disability, trauma survivors, and professionals in the workplace. IMPACT Safety also provides courses on safety policy, protocol implementation, and safety Participants practice verbal, emotional, and physical skills through real-life scenarios. LifeCare Alliance offers background checks, including BCI and FBI fingerprinting. Background checks are offered by appointment and are available at competitive prices.
HEALTH AND SUPPORT SERVICES: The Central Ohio Diabetes Association (CODA) provides high-quality education and programming to support the whole family while navigating diabetes. Its signature camp programs welcome ages 3 - 17 from across Ohio to learn how to take control, connect with a community of support, and live well! The Columbus Cancer Clinic provides prevention, detection, support, and hope for individuals battling cancer. Services include prevention education, early detection, head-to-toe screenings, examination, mammograms, and home care support. In 2022, 3,946 mammograms and 956 cancer screenings were provided. The Community Wellness Centers provide health care located in areas where the residents are underserved, have limited access to health care, or limited financial resources. Registered Nurses and Registered Dietitians provide assessments, nursing care, in-home diabetes counseling, and screening tests with a focus on education, disease prevention and management, nutrition therapy, and weight and diabetes management. In 2022, the program served 768 clients through various visits to Wellness Center staff. The Help-at-Home program provides personal care assistants and direct support care workers who assists with daily living activities, bathing, fall prevention, and basic household chores. The Help-at-Home staff works with a network of community contacts to ensure that clients can access appropriate services. In 2022, the program provided 18,047 hours of services for 390 clients. The Senior PetCare program gives clients the opportunity to care for their companion pets. The program delivers pet food and supplies directly to clients' homes through the AniMeal routes, as well as provides in-home and veterinary pet care. The Beat the Heat Fan Campaign provides box fans to central Ohioans each summer, helping to prevent heat-related health incidents. Our CHORES support service coordinates home repair projects for clients in need of safety and health-related maintenance.
