Program areas at LIFE Camps Incorporated

LIFE Camps Cure Violence (CV) Team has had an eventful year in terms of community outreach, servicing a total of 20,000+ individuals and community members. LIFE Camp has also supported and encouraged education amongst youth, sponsoring an Atlanta College Tour for a total of 50 youth participants.
LIFE Camps Therapeutic Wellness Department (TWS) provided a broad array of direct therapeutic wellness services, events & engagements to a combined grand total of 10,642 members of the community, including high risk/vulnerable youth participants affected by trauma, parents who lost their children to gun violence,staff impacted by the stress of frontline work and the general community at large,impacted by the disease of poverty, generational trauma and violence. Types of events included: Advocacy, Education & Public Outreach including wellness events with our Peace Mobile.Direct services provided included:Re-Entry Support, Funeral Support,Grief Counseling,Emergency Trauma Responses,Professional Medical Screenings, Healing Circles for Shooting Responses, Therapeutic Counseling and Social Service Systems Navigation.A combined total of 920 referrals were made to:Professional Mental Health Services, Domestic Violence Shelters,Substance Abuse Intervention services, etc.
LIFE Camp (LC) has provided consistent support to NYC Schools within the Southeast Queens community.LCs presence has a positive impact on students and the school staff, by ensuring safe and conflict free dismissal.LC also provides program support to many schoolstheir extensive enrichment program includes the following:Giant Thinkings Mind Up class helps students take a unique approach in dealing with conflict and resolution by utilizing physical exercise to relieve stress and sharpen the mind,and currently has 2480 students enrolled; The Financial Literacy program has a 320 participants,and gives students insight on what saving entails,and that wealth goes beyond material things;Urban Yogis has a number of 2950 participants,and harbors a zen environment where students immerse themselves in meditation and yoga;GED Program,and Dance/Arts program has 1000 participants.In addition,LC oversees 5 schools,with a total of 6450 students in several of our programs.
