Program areas at Lexington Pride Center
Lexington Pride Festival - In June 2022 the Lexington Pride Festival returned to its typical venue outdoors in downtown Lexington attracting an estimated 30,000 people after two years of cancellations and postponements due to COVID-19. The festival was very well attended and provided education opportunities for connection visibility and resources for those in the LGBTQIA+ community in Central Kentucky.
People's Market Food Bank - People's Market continued to see great demand in the 2021-2022 Fiscal Year. In this time frame the program served approximately 80 families with over 800 pounds of free healthy food each week. A total of approximately 350 individuals were served by the program this fiscal year. People's Market continues to be the only free grocery resource in the region that prioritizes LGBTQIA+ people and those with disabilities. It is also the only free grocery program that offers delivery.
Lexington Pride Center Drop-Ins and Regular Programming - - Lexington Pride Center's regular operations included offering a safe affirming community space with a computer lab library and assistance with resources during our open hours. In the evening and weekends we also provide a variety of support and social groups. During the 2021-2022 Fiscal Year we had over 1,100 drop-ins and calls and served over 1,000 individuals with services. We added a Victim Advocacy program this year to provide case management and advocacy services to LGBTQIA+ people who have been victims of violence in their lifetime. We continued to have a VISTA Americorp program work with us on development and fundraising.
