Program areas at Lev Foundation

Grant making/sponsorship - Lev Foundation provides public benefit by making grants to organizations in order to advance the Foundation's mission. South shore school supports a public pre-k to 8 in the southeast area of seattle with enhanced funding for free pre-k, smaller class sizes in k-3, and other enrichments to support the whole child: mind, body and spirit.
Lev Foundation serves as one of the go-to resources for the general public and policymakers, including the media, legislators, state education agencies, and communities across Washington state. Our research-based, community-driven policy recommendations come from deep engagement in Washington across multiple stakeholder sectors including community-based organizations, families, practitioners, and school districts. Lev Foundation works in partnership with open doors for multicultural families, treehouse, and the arc of king county to improve student outcomes. In 2022, Lev Foundation worked toward system change in a number of ways, including engaging in advocacy with the state office of the superintendent of public instruction (ospi) and the Washington state board of education (sbe) to conduct equity impact analyses for agency request legislation, revisions to Washington administrative codes (wacs), and budget priorities.
Lev Foundation educates communities, policymakers, and families with research-driven educational practices and policies so they can advocate for high-quality, fully funded, and equitable public education for all Washington state students. Through our levinars, podcasts, and other platforms, Lev Foundation participated in and amplified important discussions happening around student supports and school culture, especially as it relates to race and racism in schools and recovery from the covid pandemic. Lev Foundation also worked with and published guest blogs written by the legislative youth advisory council (lyac) and students from the root of our youth about the urgent need for comprehensive mental health supports in schools. Through our field work, we continued convening a legislative working table centered on and interrupting the school-to-prison pipeline. We will continue to prioritize the importance of fostering safe learning environments and providing student supports.
