Lemhi County Humane Society

The Lemhi County Humane Society (lchs) owns and operates the salmon animal shelter, where we provide high quality sheltering services for homeless companion animals from Lemhi County. The lchs also provides funds for public spay and neuter programs in an attempt to decrease the number of dogs and cats entering our shelter. We are also the first line of defense against animal abuse and neglect, and work closely with law enforcement officals to ensure that all animals in Lemhi County are treated in a kind and Humane manner. Operation of rags & wags thrift store that generates income, provides clothes, household goods and furniture to shoppers at resonable prices. Current year accomplishments include: 1. Cared for 503 pets, including 121 dogs, 179 cats, and performed 134 community spay/neuters. 2. Zero animals euthanized due to lack of space at the shelter 3. Held several successful events throughout the year, including an october adopt-a-thon where 8 cats and 3 dogs found homes in one day. Also participated in bissell pet foundation's "empty the shelters' campaign on three different occasions, finding dozens of pets homes during the events. 4. Hosted kitten yoga on september 9th 5. Put a float in salmon, Idaho's 4th of july parade 6. Put together an Idaho gives sidewalk raffle in may 7. The shelters staff and volunteers worked hard all year to provide care and support for the animals in their care. 8. Worked hard to educate the community about the importance of responsible pet ownership and spay/neuter. 9. Founds homes for hundreds of pets during the year.
