Approximately 300 Children in Lee County are enrolled in high- quality north carolina pre-kindergarten (nc pre-k) programs. The program is free to participants with the goal of helping young Children prepare for kindergarten. Under the authority of the nc state board of education, nc pre-k classrooms are located in public schools (54 percent), licensed child care centers (27 percent), and head start programs (19 percent). These classrooms provide a full school day, full school year program that meets standards set by the state board of education to align with k-12 education and prepare Children for academic success. In Lee County nc pre-k sites include private childcare centers and and one public elementary school strategically located throughout Lee County.
Child care and education quality - lcpfc quality maintenance provides services and support to qualified four and five-star child care facilities in Lee County. Lcpfc all provides funding for classroom enhancement and teacher support. Child care resource and referral assists families seeking access to child care utiliziing local and regional resources, and training on issues about quality child care. The services will be provided by the coalition for families.
Dual subsidy program (family support) - designed to assist families with Children ages birth to five, who live in Lee County and need help paying for child care to attend work or school. Financial assistance is paid on a direct per child basis for the purchase of part or full-day care and/or rate enhancements for families eligible for temporary assistance for needy families (tanf) or the child care and development fund (ccdf).
