Program areas at LSA
Annual conference: provides a forum for scholars from the usa and around the world to present and discuss their research. Approximately 3,100 attended in-person, while an additional 1,200 attended virtually.
Education and workshops: for scholars new to the field, the Association organizes annual seminars to discuss research, teaching and publishing, and offers mentorship by senior scholars who volunteer their time. Immediately preceding our annual meeting, we host a junior scholars workshop which brings together early career scholars to share research, network, and discuss professional development issues.
Grant programs: the Association awards prizes for outstanding achievements in scholarship, mentorship, and service. Grants are also rewarded to members for research and professional development. These grants are highly selective and chosen by committees appointed to screen nominations.
Other program services include publishing a quarterly journal; monitoring activities of lsa subgroups called collaborative research networks and international research collaboratives; and participating in the consortium of social science associations and american council of learned societies. Quarterly journal: the Association publishes a quarterly journal, "Law & Society review." Work by approximately 60 authors was published in the 2020-2021 volume, plus many more books were reviewed and scholars served as peer reviewers.
