Food - strengthen bipoc community and connections with local food producers and consumers to decrease food insecurity and close food access gaps. Provided thousands of food boxes to over 1,000 needy families. Leased plot of land to prepare for farming and food safety education connection. Prepared farm lots for winter cover crop. Planted winter cover crop. Prepared a smaller section and planted onions with the intention to plant garlic.
Farm - connect people to farm land and farming to improve health, develop interconnection among bipoc families, preserve and pass on culture to next generations. Support regional bipoc farms to improve their financial security. To address our program goal of providing pathways out of intergenerational poverty, health outcome disparities, and nutritional deficiency traps, we executed a successful health fair. The event was attended by over 573 participants.
Farm to farm - support bipoc farms to improve their financial security. Organizational representatives participated in the steering committee to plan for sustainability. Seven regional bipoc farms were included. Delivered a free 2-day agriculture & food systems conference to local farmers. Technical knowledge, education and training were provided to farmers in a two-day conference with over 40 participants. The conference focused on food production education, marketing strategies, land preservation, and farm financing information. We hosted a train the trainer course on food safety, marketing, planning, field visit, growers and buyers.
Cares - free covid-19 vaccinations, and information on various health topics.
