Program areas at Lancaster-Lebanon Education Foundation
Paes grant - the lancaster lebanon Education foundation acted as the fiscal agent for a grant awarded by the steinman foundation which was then paid to iu13 to create a practical assessment exploration system (paes) laboratory for special Education students at the central Education center.
Social work fund - provides support for the work of the iu13 social workers and their impact in the lancaster and lebanon county communities. The social work fund is used in the coordination of resources across multiple systems in order to enhance student achievement. The fund is used to assist students and families with basic needs such as food, clothing, housing assistance, utility bills, school uniforms, transportation, and medical needs. This also included holiday fundraisers to provide thanksgiving food assistance and mitten tree gifts.
Solid futures grant - the Lancaster-Lebanon Education foundation received funds awarded through the solid futures: connecting refugees to career pathways grant. These funds, available for the community Education program at iu13, will provide a unique opportunity for refugees with language barriers to obtain training and certification in high-priority occupations so they can land jobs with family-sustaining wages. The three-year funding is through the office of refugee resettlement, administration for children and families, department of health and human services.
Season of hope - when students feel safe and cared for at home, they can focus on learning in school. Llef understands that families can face difficult struggles. Hope and encouragement can make all the difference. Working through iu13 social workers and community Education staff, season of hope provides assistance with things like clothing, food, diapers, bills, rent, and other household necessities. This assistance can be life changing. To meet these needs, the llef uses funds received during the extraordinary give each november to supplement donations received throughout the year. Refugee center - the refugee center fund directly supports refugees and immigrants. Community Education's integration services serve these populations through bilingual culture navigation to help them confidently access resources in their new community. Mini-grants - innovation is part of the culture at iu13. Each day instructional staff members are in a position to find new ways to support learning with their students, many of whom have special needs. Llef mini-grants allow a great idea to come to life and directly benefit learners. If approved, an educator can receive up to 750 of seed money to get a new idea off the ground. The number of mini-grants available is increased with additional donations to this fund.
