Program areas at KHC
Competitive regrant programhumanities Kansas, Inc. Provides Humanities grants to Kansas non-profits that fund public programming for lectures, symposia, exhibitions and documentary and short films. Heritage grants are awarded for projects that preserve local history through research, oral histories, the digitization of photos and records, and for the care of collections.
Speakers bureauspeakers bureau awards are provided for one hour programs on Kansas, american and world history, as well as other topics of local or current interest. Each presentation is followed by discussion led by the scholar. The Kansas Humanities council provides funding to museums, libraries, and non-profit organizations to cover the cost of the honorarium and travel of the scholar.
Talk - talk about literature in kansastalk is comprised of several series of reading and discussion programs on topics of popular interest. These series of 3-4 books are developed around a central theme with the books providing insight into different perspectives on the topic. Grant awards are made to libraries and senior centers to cover the cost of the honorarium and travel of each scholar/discussion leader. The books for the series are delivered to the venue through a grant provided to the northwest Kansas library system.
