Program areas at Kansas City Metropolitan Crime Commission
Second chance establishes a metro-wide Crime prevention strategy through research, advocacy, and fundraising to increase opportunities for ex-offenders to lead productive lives rather than return to prison.
The Metropolitan community service program receives minor offenders and places them to work at not-for-profit work sites and neighborhood cleanups instead of a jail sentence at taxpayer expense.
Crime stoppers uses the 474-tips hotline to help police solve crimes by paying rewards to anonymous callers with information pertaining to a Crime.
Safe program, and other kcmcc programs - safe provides immediate, and possibly long term, financial assistance to the spouses, children and/or dependent parents of sworn police officers, firefighters, and emergency services personnel killed in the line of duty in the Missouri counties of cass, clay, jackson, and platte and the Kansas counties of douglas, johnson, miami, shawnee and wyandotte.
