Program areas at Justice for Families
Justice Reinvestment: Our Justice Reinvestment program focuses on directing resources towards empowering lived experience leaders and communities that have been negatively affected by the various justice systems. This program supports our community peer navigators, who play a vital role in providing families with access to resources and creating sustainable advocacy and support networks within their communities, extending beyond system involvement. Our Justice Reinvestment program is dedicated to reallocating financial resources to foster the growth and sustainability of grass- roots organizations led by individuals with lived experience. We are a actively working to shift the dynamics of justice funding.
Training & Technical Assistance: Our Training & Technical Assistance program is focused on equipping youth justice stakeholders, including parents and family caregivers, with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the complexities of the juvenile justice system and providing systems professionals(including judges, probation officers, detention staff, mental health providers, educators, child-serving agency professionals, youth advocates, and law enforcement personnel) with strategies to authentically engage families, young people and community grassroots leaders in their work to improve outcomes for young people. To date, we have trained and engaged over 1,500 families and nearly 7,500 system professionals nationally.
