Agency assistance is dedicated to projects that promote the well-being of children and families. As an active volunteer organization of more than 300 women, the League has a rich tradition of providing volunteers for projects assisting women and children in the community. As part of her member requirements, each member volunteers for a done-in-a-day project with a local agency. In addition, the League looks for ways to partner with other organizations to enrich the impact of programs offered to women and children. Additionally, the League reserves a percentage of monies raised from each fundraisers and every five years awards a signature grant to a deserving non-profit agency or major League project.
Volunteer training supports the League's mission of providing trained volunteers through a seven year program for active members of the League consisting of monthly membership training meetings focusing on community issues. In addition to monthly membership meetings, active members participate in volunteer projects throughout the year and serve on committees designed to develop skills for volunteer service. Selected members and those serving in leadership positions also attend outside training and conferences. Spac is the state public affairs committee. This committee is made of two members of the League in coordination with other leagues in the state. The purpose of this committee is to advocate for interests of women and children in accordance with its position statements and community focus areas. The committee is responsible for educating and encouraging participation by the membership in matters of legislative affairs concerning women and children.
Strengthening families is committed to improving the lives of others with programs that address areas such as parenting, mentoring, health and well- being, and early childhood intervention and education, with an emphasis onfighting childhood obesity and the importance of proper nutrition in children. The feeding our future initiative is an outreach program designed to supply chronically hungry children and their families with meals. As part of this program, the League works in conjunction with several schools to house food pantries inside these schools to make food distribution more accessible to children and families in need. The diaper bank of north Georgia is a League initiative to assist families struggling to afford diapers by collecting, purchasing and distributing diapers to partner agencies who work directly with families in need in the community. These programs are supported by fundraisers and donation drives led by the League, donations, and volunteer assistance.
