Program areas at Journey Home
Journey Home's mission is not to manage homelessness, but to end it. We are a small team of social innovators taking a modern approach to a complex problem. We have created a national model for best approaches to ending homelessness. Over a decade, we have been focused on ending chronic homelessness, which describes those who have experienced more than a year of homelessness and are living with disabling conditions. Since 2015, 600 households experiencing chronic homelessness have obtained housing through this coordinated network. While we continue to work towards ending chronic homelessness we are also now focused on ending homelessness for households with children and youth aged 18-24. Through this coordinated system of services with our partners, we are now able to keep over 75% of families in housing crises out of emergency shelters. Through our making a house a Home, furniture donation and volunteer engagement program, we have been able to assist about 400 clients with furnishing their new homes and involved over 250 volunteers in these efforts. Through our aerospace employment program, just under 50 individuals have received training and subsequent job placement making living wages with benefits with opportunities for continuing education.
