Program areas at Jewish Council of North Central Florida
The JCNCF sponsors an annual Holocaust Remembrance Day program and a variety of Jewish themed talks for seniors and others, and related broader community outreach activities and events. These programs serve our educational mission. Future programs in 2023 include a lecture series on the history of religion in the United States. JCNCF hosts several annual community wide events and programs: the new JCNCF Good Deeds Program, which supports ongoing community service for several local organizations throughout the year, and Israeli Independence Day. These activities fulfill our culture mission. New programs were added into the JCNCF 2022 schedule which promote intergenerational activities such as a community Hanukkah celebration and virtual book talks.
JCNCF publishes The Chronicle, a virtual newsletter with articles of interest to the local Jewish community, several times a year. This publication also promotes events organized by JCNCF or other local Jewish entities. For the fiscal year ending August 31, 2022, slightly over 600 people received The Chronicle as well as a weekly community event email, the JCNCF Shabbat Shalom. JCNCF also sponsors a childrens Jewish literacy program called PJ Library, which distributes books to over 300 children monthly. This program also offers enrichment opportunities for children to learn about Jewish beliefs, customs and history.
JCNCF allocates monies to the Jewish Federation of North America which distributes those funds to international partner agencies who demonstrate the most need. Additionally, a segment of the annual allocation is earmarked for The Beit Ruth Therapeutic and Educational Village and The Jaffa Institute. JCNCF also distributes monies to local partner organizations who apply for grant funds for community programming and security. This serves our philanthropic mission.
