Program areas at Jesuit Volunteer Corps Northwest
Since its beginnings in 1956, over 7,600 individuals have volunteered for at least one year of full-time service as Jesuit volunteers through Jesuit Volunteer Corps (jvc) Northwest in Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Idaho, and montana.since 2010, jvc Northwest has been a grantee of the national direct americorps program of the corporation for national and community service, enabling most of the organization's Jesuit volunteers to also be americorps members. The grant has made it possible for jvc Northwest to go where the need is greatest and provide quality service to our partner agencies and their clients. Continued on schedule o.in 2021-2022, 115 Jesuit volunteers (of whom 109 are also americorps members) committed their lives to serve full-time in social service, health, and environmental programs, schools, and change-agent organizations. They reside in communities of four to eight Jesuit volunteers and strive to live out the values of community, simple living, social and ecological justice, and spirituality. To date, over 7,600 Jesuit volunteers have served through jvc northwest.in january of 2012, jvc Northwest launched the Jesuit Volunteer encorps (jv encorps) program in portland, Oregon. Jv encorps (jve) is a program engaging people ages 50 and older in a transforming experience of part-time Volunteer service, community-building, and spiritual growth.during the 2021-2022 program year, a total of 85 jve's convened in seven different groups, as follows: portland (two groups) and bend, Oregon; seattle, tacoma, spokane, and vancouver, Washington.
