Jefferson-Clarion Head Start is dedicated to providing comprehensive education and health services to income eligible children to ensure they will be healthier and better prepared for success in school life. We seek to promote family self-sufficiency by providing educational oppportunities to parents and establishing family partnerships designed to build upon the strengths of each family. We are committed to collaborating effectively with schools, child care providers, and other social service agencies while being responsive to the changing needs of our communities.

Program areas at Jefferson Clarion Head Start

Head Start Program - Provides educational and nutritional benefits to children and their families who have financial needs or to those who are handicapped.
Early Head Start - Provides educational and nutritional benefits to expecting mothers and young children who have financial needs.
Pre-K Counts Program - Provides educational and nutritional benefits to children just prior to kindergarten and their families who have financial needs.
Head Start Supplemental Assistance Program - Provides educational and nutritional benefits to children and their families who have financial needs or to those who are handicapped.
Maternal Infant Early Childhood Home Visiting Grant - Provides educational and nutritional benefits to expecting mothers and young children who have financial needs.
Parents as Teachers is an evidenced based home visiting program that provides home visits to pregnant women and children birth through kindergarten. Parent Educators who have been trained in the Parents as Teachers model deliver parenting, child development, health services and assist families in making connections to services they may need from the community.
Child and Adult Care Food Program - Provide food and nutrition to needy.
Other Programs
The organization operates an Opiate Use Disorder/Substance Use Disorder Home Visiting Program funded by the PA Department of Human Services. The objectives of the program are to provide home visiting services to low-income families with children birth to three years of age and expectant women in Clarion and Jefferson Counties, Pennsylvania. Families enrolled in this program are either in recovery, are being raised by another family member or guardian because their parents are incarcerated or not in the picture, or to serve families with addiction issue. The organization utilizes the Early Head Start model to provide home visiting services for these families. In addition, enhanced Mental Health Services are available to families participating in this program. This funding also supports the Parenting Program, Positive Solutions for Families.
