Japanese Friendship Garden of Phoenix

The Japanese Friendship Garden of Phoenix, Rohoen, is an authentic 3.5 acre Japanese Stroll Garden with a tea garden and a tea house. This tranquil and beautiful setting features more than 1,500 tons of hand picked rock, stone foot bridges, lanterns and more than 85 varieties of plants. As you stroll the path, you will enjoy flowing streams, a 14 foot waterfall, and a koi pond with over 300 colorful Koi fish. Otsukimi is a moon viewing event held annually for more than fifteen years by our organization serving arts and culture enthusiasts as well as community members interested in authentic and traditional Japanese culture. The most recent iteration saw authenticity, education, omotenashi hospitality, and tradition brought to life in several ways. We offered Japanese food freshly made, had artists performing music, kimono displays, and other vendors that highlighted Japanese arts and culture. During this two day event we sold 2,073 tickets. Haru celebrates the onset of spring at the Japanese Friendship Garden and for this event we aim to serve families and children. This two day event provides opportunities for children to play games, view Japanese displays, and experience music and food representative of the culture and season of Japan. This annual event resulted in 1,429 tickets sold, not including the large number of children under the age of 6 who entered the Garden for free.
