Research: automobile safety standards; fuel economy standards; automobile emissions standards; us automobile inspection system; us Auto repair shop laws and regulations; automobile recall systems. During 2023, research was conducted on the legislative activieies of the u.s. congress and rule-making by the relevant federal agencies such as national highway traffic safety administration ("nhtsa") of the department of transportation ("dot"), and environmental protection agency ("epa") and state agencies. The topics cover the u.s. standards on automotive manufacture, inspection, safety, and environmental protection, etc., as well as development of new automotive technologies. Based on this research, jasic issued reports in january, april, july and october.

Meetings: nhtsa's role in safety regulations; epa's role in the environment; united nations meeting for safety regulations. During 2023, meetinges were held with nhtsa and ministry of land, infrastructure, transoprt and tourism (mlit), 73rd and 74th working party at united nations economic commissioin for europe (unece) and with a special interest group electric vehicle interest group (evig). Approximate attendees at these meetings totaled 200.
